Dia De los Muertos is day to respect loved ones who have passed away. It is also time to celebrate their lives. The tradition was started in Mexico when Spanish Conquistadors found natives practicing a ritual that seemed to mock death. The Spanards
made the holiday coincide with All Saints day and All Souls Day because of their belief that it was sacrilegious.
