Argentina-Gobierno



Cristina Fernández de Kirchner is the president, and she controls the armed forces.

Argentina is governed by the 1853 constitution and was revised in 1898 and 1994 and has the federal system of government. The president and vice president and vice president are elected by popular vote and serve a four year term. They can be re-elected once. The bicameral national congress is made of 72 senators (3 from each province), who serve six year terms and 257 deputies. The deputies serve four year terms. There is also a nine person supreme court.
